Accreditation and Recognition

This degree is awarded by the University of Salford, which received a Royal Charter in 1967 from Her Majesty the Queen. The University is fully recognised by the British government; The University of Salford degree transcript will mention Robert Kennedy College as your teaching institution.

Admission Requirements

Normally a minimum 2:2 honours degree or equivalent.

A wide range of professional qualifications are also accepted either in partial or complete fulfilment of entry requirements.

We welcome applications from students who may not have formal/traditional entry criteria but who have relevant experience or the ability to pursue the course successfully.

Programme Outline

The scheme has been designed to meet the aims of the online MSc in a flexible manner and can be tailored to the individual preferences of each student. The MSc requires you to complete four courses plus a final dissertation. The programme consists of the following modules:

Induction

This is the first module of the programme which gives an orientation to the course and the online learning style. It does not carry credits and students are encouraged to go through the material in this module at their own pace and get accustomed to the online medium.

Stage 2

60 credits, Individual dissertation

Dissertation Work

A conventional dissertation of 12,000 to 15,000 words, consisting of research question, aims and objectives, rationale for undertaking the study, literature review, research methodology, analysis of findings, conclusions and recommendations.

Induction

Not-for-credit module

A not-for-credit induction module will be the starting point of the programme. The induction process is designed to familiarise you with the programme design, requirements and resources, as well as with the way online interaction, learning and grading will take place. After the induction you should be familiar with academic life, including academic writing, library services and library access, OnlineCampus access, and academic support services.

Digital Business and Entrepreneurship

The Digital Business and Entrepreneurship module has been designed specifically to equip you with the practical and theoretical skills needed for contemporary business settings; you will gain an understanding of the role of inactive business models (think Uber) that can exploit innovative and disruptive technologies such as drones, robotics, and wearable tech. There is a focus on entrepreneurial skills essential for those starting their own businesses and also for those working in digital business settings. The module will encourage you to critically assess how social, disruptive and innovative technologies can become key business enablers and facilitate strategic competitive advantages.

Principles and Practices of International Events Management

Through this module, you will develop an in-depth understanding of the concept, range, significance, roles, dimensions and characteristics of contemporary international events through a balance of virtual and physical environments. You will work on real event problems and enhance your project planning, problem solving and communication skills.

Project Management, Leadership and Skills: Planning and Control

You will learn about the approaches, skills and methods of effective project management, and the tools and techniques required for planning, control, teamwork, leadership and other key processes. All of these qualities will develop your ability to lead complex projects.

Search and Social Media Marketing

This modules provides an introduction to search and social media marketing and its strategic benefits to organisations. Through Search and Social Media Marketing, you will develop a critical understanding of the strategies, theories, trends and techniques used in Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and Social Media Optimisation (SMO) as well as the practical skills required for the implementation and evaluation of these activities.
